nietzsche in wonderland

Existence precedes essence.
This phrase is the central proposition of existentialism, which means that the most important part of individuals is that they are individuals that act of their own accord, independently.
In Alice in Wonderland, Alice’s experiences in Wonderland make her unique. While in wonderland, Alice becomes a new person, she makes her own her decisions and has new, confusing, and challenging experiences.
Another concept in existentialism deals with absolute alienation. A person who fully alienates themselves is left with a black, uncompromising nothingness. This nothingness is separating you from everything; society, religion, nature and even yourself.
All through Alice’s adventures, she is separated from the real world, but this is most prominent when she becomes lost in Tulgy Wood. She is left confused and on her own, facing this bizarre, black, nothingness of the wood.
